The Lady Wildcats (13-9, 4-3) have faced quite a tough schedule through the week of Jan. 15-22. They played two rivals in the span of one week (Springdale and Fayetteville). The girls came out victorious in both games winning by 15 against the Purple Dogs (7-12, 3-3) and won a close one against the Bulldogs, 42-40.
“We played a pretty good game. We really needed to win and get back on the right track,” said Coach Sandy Wright. “It was a really nice win for us to get it on the road especially.”
The defense was strong with the girls against both conference rivals. They held the Purple Dogs to only one field goal the whole first half. With such strong defense wins are easy to come by.
“I think we played good defense both games,” said junior Samantha Weber. “We played different defenses in both games which were to our advantage.”
On Jan. 25 the ladies faced off against the Rogers Mounties and lost 61-58 in a tough game that went into overtime. One Lady Wildcat won homecoming night, as senior homecoming maid Ashley Grey was crowned queen.
“After the loss, getting crowned queen definitely made my night a lot better,” said Gray. “I wasn’t expecting it at all!”
The girls had good offensive games against both Rogers and Fayetteville. The ball was being passed well and all the girls were contributing equally to the best of there abilities.
“We had a pretty good balance scoring, everyone contributed which helped a lot,” said Weber.
Friday, Feb 1 the Lady Wildcats played a home game against the new to 7A West Conference Siloam Springs Panthers. The Lady Panthers are a little hot, coming off back-to-back wins.
