November 6, 1995, junior Josh Frazier was born into this crazy world with no one knowing quite yet what great potential he had. From the age of three his passion was basketball, and football was merely a distraction.
“Basketball was my first love,” he said.
By the time he was in junior high, he realized that although he enjoyed basketball, he probably would not reach the NBA at his height.
The childhood distraction soon became his life. Central football started Frazier in the eighth grade, a new football player with great potential. Within two years football coach Chris Wood has seen Frazier grow in many ways.
“Josh has a better understanding of the game and understands his position better,” said coach Wood
Not only does Frazier learn on the field but also by watching his favorite defensive tackle , Vince Wilfork of the New England Patriots. Frazier has many characteristics that help him be the best he can be at football.
“He is strong for his age,” said football coach Chris Wood.
His strength helps him during the game but that’s not what makes him such a wonderful football player. His attitude and personality are a large part of his success as well.
“Josh has the teams back and is loyal to his friends,” said Coach Wood.
All of the attributes have added up to give him a bit of a spark in colleges eyes. Frazier has received scholarship offers from three schools up to this point. He received his first two scholarships from Arkansas and Arkansas State his sophomore year. His third offer was from Alabama which he received the summer before his junior year.
“Football is my motivation. It shows because my grades have gotten a lot better,” said Josh Frazier.
Frazier is working hard at keeping his grades high to get ready for college. Frazier has two sisters that are out of school and not in college at this point.
“I plan on being the only one to go to college,” said Frazier.
If Frazier keeps his good grades and keeps improving in football, who knows where he will be a few years from now. Maybe he will be our favorite defensive tackle in the NFL.
