The Lady Wildcats soccer team was supposed to play Little Rock Hall May 10 at Fort Smith Southside in the first round of the state tournament. Surprisingly, Little Rock Hall fortified the game allowing the Lady Wildcats a win and pushing them on to the second round of the playoffs.
During the second round the Lady Wildcats went up against the number one team in the central conference, the Conway Lady Wampus Cats. Although the Lady Wildcats fought till the end, the Lady Wampus Cats managed to defeat the Lady Wildcats 2-0. In the state tournament if a team loses one game then they go home, also known as one and done. So, that was the last game the Lady Wildcats will play this season. The Lady Wildcats received 7 or 8 in the state tournament.
With the season being over the Lady Wildcats only has one senior continuing to play soccer in college. Emma Gartner will be attending Concordia University, St. Paul Minnesota as the goalkeeper.
“I wanted to continue playing soccer because I have been playing soccer for so long I couldn’t imagine not playing,” said senior Emma Gartner. “Also, I thought it would be a great way to pay for college.”
The Lady Wildcats finished with a record of 12 wins, 1 tie, and 5 losses. This was the best record the Lady Wildcats have ever had in school history, beating Southside in conference and Bentonville in a pre season game for the first time. Throughout the season the Lady Wildcats have played hard and they finished the season out strong.
On Monday, May 14 the coaches presented awards to the players that the teammates nominated themselves.
