During the Fayetteville game April 20 junior Sara LaChance was taken out from behind, causing severe pain in her left knee. Later that week she went to the doctor and was told she isolated her ACL, so she will be out for the rest of the season.
“The worst part about not being able to play is watching the games from the sidelines and knowing you could make a difference in the game,” said LaChance, “and not being able to play along side my awesome teammates.”
The Lady Wildcats played the Bentonville Lady Tigers April 25. After losing a valuable offensive player, the Wildcats had to come together as a team now more than ever playing one of the top teams in their conference.
Although the Lady Wildcats played hard, the Lady Tigers had many more vicious attacks allowing them a victory 5-1.
After losing a teammate and a tough game, the seniors had an inspiring idea to make the team have faith and play even harder. It was called “Operation Believe.”
Every team player wrote “Operation Believe” on their hand. Also, during the halftime of the Rogers game, the team huddled up chanting, “I believe that we will win”.
“I think it brings the team closer and constantly encourages us to keep playing in the game no matter how negative the situation is looking at the time,” said senior Emma Gartner. “I wanted to do our chant at the halftime in the Rogers game to keep everyone from doubting what we could do.”
On Friday, April 27 the Lady Wildcats had a 2-1 victory against the Rogers Lady Mounties. This was the first time in four years the Lady Wildcats defeated the Lady Mounties.
The Lady Wildcats last conference game will be on Friday, May 4 against their cross-town rivals, Springdale Lady Bulldogs, at Bulldog Stadium.
