The Lady Wildcat softball team was up 3-0 over non-conference opponent Farmington after two innings April 13. The Lady Cardinals rallied in the 3rd inning, tying it 3-3, and the battle was on.
The Lady Wildcats began to make errors, and the errors cost them the game, a 7-4 loss.
Now that the Lady Wildcats are in their second week of conference season, they have created a countdown to Lady Back Yard, a calendar that has all their workdays and game days leading up to the State Championship.
“When I hear we’re the best I pretend like they call us the worst, “ said sophomore Lyndsey Swaffer. “We don’t get big heads and we play to our fullest potential each game.”
The girls went up against the Heritage War Eagles in a Conference match-up April 19, which resulted in a blow out. They beat the War Eagles 12-2, which makes their conference record 7-2.
“A critical moment in the game was that we scored first, we kept scoring, and we hit really good,” said junior Camille Burchfield.
The Lady Wildcats face off in another Conference game against the Northside Grizzlies.
“Northside should be decent,” said softball Coach Sandra Temple. “My hope is we play to our ability and perform like we’ve been practicing.”
