Sophomore Camden Scott was sitting in his third period class when he heard an announcement informing students about the new Diamond Dudes. An organized way to support girls softball at is being established, which is similar to the Diamond Dolls.
“I’ve always noticed that the baseball boys have had the Diamond Dolls, so it wasn’t fair for the girls to not have a group like that,” said sophomore Carlos Jarquin founder and creator of the Diamond Dudes.
“I pitched the idea out to Coach Temple and she tweeted me to say it was a go,” said Jarquin.
The Diamond Dudes, much like the Diamond Dolls, are a new group of males looking to support the softball team. Sign-ups are being held in the main office until April 5.
“You need to pay $15 for a t-shirt, and extra money is up to you for getting the girls some treats,” said Coach Temple.
Being the Diamond Dudes’ first year, Jarquin does not expect a bunch of people to join, but he hopes that the group will grow. The “dudes” still plan on supporting the softball team. Jarquin and Scott plan on being Diamond Dudes throughout their high school career.
“I think it’s a good program because everyone always cheers on the guys but always overlook the girls,” said Scott. “Hopefully a lot of guys join and we start to get a bunch of people at the softball games.”
