“It was a lot of fun, and the atmosphere was a lot different,” said senior Katie Huff.
Four swimmers attended the state swim tournament at the University of Arkansas. Katie Huff, Mariah Lucas, Kelsey Odell, and Kimberly Huff were the four who qualified to go to state. Huff placed ninth in 50 freestyle and 11th in 100 freestyle.
“Individually I didn’t do as well as I wanted to,” said Huff.
This was Huff’s first year on the swim team, and she made it all the way to state. Despite her effort in the pool, she does not plan to persue swim after high school.
“I plan on going to college to play volleyball,” she said.
The 400 free relay team containing Huff, Odell, and freshmen Kimberly Huff and Mariah Lucas placed 4th at state.
For the seniors, this was their last time swimming in their high school careers.
“It felt good to be at state especially since it was my last time to compete in a high school sport,” said Odell. “It was a good memory to end my high school career, and I enjoyed spending time with my coaches and teammates. Overall I was pleased with our placement in our events considering the few people we had.”
