Coaches around the state nominate and vote for the all-star coach and the all-star dancers. Seniors Paxton Huse and Emma Ridings where nominated to cheer at the All-Star Game and seniors Taylor Mounce and Mckenzie Haingaertner were nominated dance at the game. Dance coach Lindsay Smith was selected to coach the All-Star dance squad.

“It felt really good knowing I made the All-Star dance team. It was an honor,” said Haingaertner. “My coach told me I was being nominated, and I got the letter during class to ask me to accept the invitation.”

Practice for the All-Star qualifiers will be held June 19-21 at the University of Arkansas.  The girls nominated will perform at the All-Star basketball and football games, where the teams will be divided between west and east.

“At the camps we’ll learn the chants and performances to do at the games,” said Huse.

Coach Smith, who’s been coaching dance for three years, was nominated to be the All-Star dance coach.

“It’s a great feeling to be able to represent HBHS and the 7A West at a state event,” she said.
