Cutting into the Lady Rebel lead late in the fourth quarter, all Har-Ber (18-6, 5-3) momentum was halted on a controversial technical call committed by junior Tayleah Neal.
Southside’s Calli White made both technical free throws to advance the Southside (14-8, 6-2) lead to six. White made 19 of 19 free throws on the night, bringing her point total to 28.
“It was a four point swing, so it brought our confidence down a little,” said senior point guard Jessica Olson.
In the previous match-up, at Fort Smith, White was held to only four points. Things were different on this night.
Keeping up for the Wildcats, as normal, were seniors Olson and her two six foot tall (plus) posts (Caroline Eubanks and Summer Morgan). They combined for 48 of Har-Ber’s 57 points.
Har-Ber only had two bench points the entire game.
“We really are capable of scoring off the bench, and have great depth,” said Olson. “We just haven’t been doing it lately.”
Har-Ber splits the season series with Southside, losing 68-57, and returns to the hardwood Feb. 3 at crosstown rival, Springdale.
