The Fayetteville Invitational was a bit chaotic, because half of the swim team was trying to go to the choir concert. Many of the swimmers had to compete in events that they’ve never competed in before.
“I think last night was very eye-opening,” said Coach Ta-neisha Marshall. “A lot of people had to pick up the slack.”
The swim and dive team girls got fifth and the boys got ninth out of 16 schools. Two swimmers qualified for state: Mariah Lucas, a freshman, and Katie Huff, a senior. Huff got third in the 50 freestyle.
“I think the meet went really well for Har-Ber. Overall I did a lot better than last time, and I think a major factor is that the coaches push us to to do the best,” said sophomore Mason Geary.
Despite the challenges many swimmers faced during the meet, many didn’t do their best.
“It wasn’t a really good meet for me because I had to swim in events that I’ve never swam in. At least I didn’t get last,” said junior Ethan Wilson.
