Senior Evan Verucchi and junior Sara Reidy medaled for honors in the run to victory. Verucchi got a 53 and Reidy scored a 55. The girls helped the team get a victory against Rogers Heritage at Prarie Creek, and the girls had a winning score of 182 to 187. The girls were all going crazy when they found out they won.
“OMG! Like did that really just happen?” said Verucchi.
They weren’t the only ones who captured a medal. The boys came out with a winning score of 166 to 187. Zach Coats led the team with a 35, followed by Nick Handcock with a 40, and Candler Boortz carded a 42.
”We were all so excited. Everyone played really well,” said Coats, a senior.
Despite the victory earlier in the week, both the boys and girls fell to conference foe Bentonville Aug. 25. The boys finished the match 158 to 173 and the girls scored a 139 to 177.
Coats medaled for the boys, with an even par 36. Molly Luster shot a team-low 54.
“We need to practice more, and get it together,” said Luster.
Coats, Verucchi and Luster face off in another conference match-up against Fayetteville Aug. 29.
