WARNING- YOUR BOY JACOB BENSON IS ABOUT TO DROP SOME REAL PHILOSOPHICAL KNOWLEDGE ON THE WHOLE WORLD, SO PREPARE YOUR MEMBRANES.
Seniors, or those of you that I spoke to, will be greatly missed as you pursue your goals and expand your legacy in whatever you choose to pursue. Those of you going to college- you’re not just choosing a random job. This is what you might do for the rest of your life. Don’t just choose a career path for the sake of having made a decision. Do what want to do. It’s your life, and life is what you choose to make of it.
Plus you all smell great. I love you all. Wanna grab a coffee sometime? No. Because you’ll be in college. But don’t forget to write.
Alright. The rest of this passage is for my fellow students representing the class of 2014.
I’ll just begin with something I’ve been pondering. What could possibly be done to top Senior Prank Week from this year? I seriously have no idea. Maybe someone could get a tiger, or a giraffe or some other exotic animal, but I am seriously stumped. I mean this is a very non-pandering way. I tear up when I use strong mouthwash, so I have no clue how someone could have the guts to do what was done for Senior Prank Week this year.
Also, juniors, this is it. Next year we are seniors, and in turn, one year from becoming real people in the real world.
My advice is that you all appreciate high school while it’s here. Yeah, finals suck, sometimes teachers, the administration, and the rules suck. You know what sucks worse? Waking up one day and realizing that all you focused on in high school was how bad it sucked.
This summer, take it one day at a time. Take every opportunity, and see every door closed. Spend less time looking at your phone screens and more time at the people around you. Do something you’ve never done before (within the limits of the law). Be honest to the people you care about. Soak up the sun, and experience what it’s like to be a kid, because regretting the opportunities you never took also sucks.
The summer of 2013 and the school year following it are ours for the taking. You get what you put into the world, and, according to Drake, you only live once. That’s the motto. And we about it everyday, everyday, everyday (we don’t even play.)
So, class of 2014. Finish the rest of the semester strong. And be prepared to grab the 2013-14 school year by the tail. It’s time to begin our legacy.
