Some watch the Super Bowl because they love football. Some watch the Super Bowl because they’re forced. Most watch the Super Bowl because they’re looking forward to the commercials. I’m in the last category. It’s the only time of the year I will stay in my seat for commercials. Unless it’s the Go Daddy commercials…they’re kind of weird.
This year’s commercial were great. I had multiple favorites, but I especially like the sketchers one.
The commercial featured a cheetah and a deer. The cheetah was obviously hunting the deer and going to kill it. Then a guy wearing sketchers comes out of nowhere, tackles the cheetah and ties it up with its tail. The guy and deer exchanged winks and fist-bumped. What’s not to like? There was a cute animal, it didn’t die, and it winked!
The Best But ad with Amy Poehler was hilarious. I love Amy Poehler and her cheeky humor. She was asking the Best Buy worker a bunch of questions and he looked so uncomfortable but it was super funny because she asked if the e-reader she was holding would read Fifty Shades of Grey to her in a sexy voice. When he said no she asked the guy if he would read it to her.
There was another commercial with an adorable Clydesdale horse in it. The ad was for Budweiser and I think I just died of cuteness when watching it. The Clydesdale was with this man ever since he was born and they had been together their whole lives but the horse was parted from the man.
After three years the man learned that the horse would be in a parade in Chicago so the man drove to see him and at first the man thought the horse had forgotten him and after the end of the parade he walked away dejectedly. But when the Clydesdale was released from the reigns, he ran to the man and they hugged.
I also liked the Taco Bell ad that was scored with a Spanish version of We Are Young (a song by FUN.) and there were some elderly people who looked like they were at a awesome party. It was basically a ad that had a bunch of partying, kissing, and pool jumping.
Instead of young children, there were old people in their place. At the end they laid on top of a lime green Mustang while eating tacos, then the cops drove by and they had this stare down contest. Then they went back to the nursing home when the sun was coming up.
This year’s commercial were awesome, some people didn’t like them but I just think that’s a matter of personal opinion.
