The world of cinema lost a pair of true warriors as they left the movie scene to pursue interests off screen. As they left, we knew we’d miss them, but also that they’d be in our hearts forever. I’m, of course, talking about two action movie legends: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone.
Schwarzenegger and Stallone are responsible for a plethora of ridiculous, and epic, action films. For example, Schwarzenegger was featured in blockbusters such as the “Terminator” series, “Conan the Barbarian,” and “Predator.” Stallone starred in films such as the “Rocky” series, the “Rambo” series, and recently the two joined together to collaborate with the epically cast “Expendables 2.”
While I’m sure the “Expendables” was not meant to be taken seriously and was just a shameless way for dudes to get their fix of their favorite action heroes, it seems that the two feel that they can now go back into the film industry.
This is wrong. So wrong. I understand that people who used to make a lot of money doing something really fun feel nostalgic and want to get a taste of the glory days. This does not mean that they can just jump back in whenever they please. If this were the case, I am sure there would be a bunch of 80-year-olds going back into the NFL. When they get tackled, they’d explode into a cloud of dust. I just don’t want to see two wonderful action actors to become the Brett Favre’s of movies.
Let’s also not ignore the fact that Schwarzenegger has lived in the USA for what seems to be a thousand years, and he still speaks English like he just got off a boat from Austria. He is a living embodiment of the American dream; he came to America, learned the language, became Mr. Universe, was a movie star, AND joined major office in California. What have you accomplished lately?
I’m pretty sure Stallone has lived in the USA his entire life, and he speaks worse English than Schwarzenegger. His voice sounds like someone who is trying to keep marbles in his mouth while speaking to a baby. Let the record show that I completely respect these two, and I would never say any of this to their faces. They could rip me apart and eat me for the protein.
Well, I have no power/effect on the path of their careers. I’m just a boy. Sitting in front of a computer screen. Asking it to love him. That’s a “Notting Hill” reference for those who did not catch it. As long as Stallone and Schwarzenegger get paid millions of dollars to be themselves, then I am sure they will continue to do so.
