Walking into the lunchroom on my first day of sophomore year, I remember scanning the area, wide eyes searching for familiar faces to sit with. As my eyes landed on a certain table, I knew that it would be a good year. And as junior year began, I found myself back at this very same table.
The Lunch Table.
That’s the cleverly original name we deemed for our merry band of misfits. Comprised of all “bandies” except for yours truly, the 10 of us gather every day and share an abundance of laughs. While this year has seen a few of us sadly being scheduled into a different lunch, those of us left hold them dearly in our hearts, knowing our ongoing group message binds us all together.
While those of you reading this may think that I’m crazy and that writing about who I sit with at lunch is pointless, let me remind you that having a family of friends is one of the most important things in life.
A family is what those of us at The Lunch Table have become. From quoting Bad Lip Reading videos, to randomly breaking out into song, lunch is never dull when I’m surrounded by a group of people who are as carefree as I am.
As the bell rings to dismiss to lunch I always feel like a small child, bouncing up and down, anticipating the next 30 minutes full of inappropriate jokes, awkward silences that end in giggles, and stuffing our faces full of food.
I wanted to dedicate this column to the people who always make me smile and can put me in a good mood instantly. I would name off all of the wonderful beings that make up The Lunch Table, but hmmm better not. They know who they are.
I love you my crazy comrades. And I know that The Lunch Table will live on in our hearts for the rest of our lives. Stay golden.
