When set in place the Second Amendment was created to could protect ourselves from the government not from each other. Therefore, the government should not be allowed to say we cannot own guns that they themselves own.
I do, however, feel that background checks should be put in place to keep guns out of the hands of those who are not stable enough to use them properly.
How is it fair that the President has body guards with assault rifles to protect his family but who says we do not have the right to such guns to protect us and our families?
Such freedoms were not put in place with the thought that someday they would have restrictions on what you could own and what you could not.
Criminals with the intent of harming someone will find a way to do it one way or another whether it is legal or not. Gun laws such as limiting what guns we may own and how many rounds are in a clip only take away the ability of law abiding citizens to own such weapons and ammo. People hurt people, not weapons.
Knives can kill just as easily as guns. In Taixing, Jiangsu, April 29, 2010, Xu Yuyuan stabbed 28 students, two teachers, and one guard at a kindergarten. In China citizens are not allowed to own guns, so they have resulted to other objects such as knives, axes, and hammers. If a person intends to kill someone they will find a way to do it no matter what restrictions are put in place.
It is not about gun control but about the fact that life is dangerous. Safety measures in schools and other public places are understandable to be enhanced but taking away certain weapons is not the answer.
