As the Romney administration brought their last minute campaigning to a close, the American masses gathered behind their televisions and awaited the moment when the USA would decide the new head of the Executive Branch.
Every news station was covering the action. They provided viewers with the amount of Electoral College votes that each candidate was receiving in live action.
At first, Romney had the lead. Eventually Obama’s votes climbed and climbed until there was a tie at 163 votes for each. As the night ended, Obama triumphed with 303 Electoral votes, while Romney had 206.
In popular votes, it was a bit of a closer race. Obama managed to crawl away with 60.6 million votes or 50.4%. Romney took 57.8 million (48.0%).
Political analysts diagnosed several reasons for Romney’s loss. One was that he flip-flopped too much. He had an opinion for something in one state, then it changed when he went to another. Former House Speaker, Newt Gingrich believed that Republicans were leaning too heavily on the fact that the unemployment rate, and current economic troubles would lock the win for Romney.
Even though Romney lost, you’ve got to applaud him for his concession speech. Romney wished the best for President Obama and his family. For a man who fought as hard as he did, it was impressive to see him keep his head up, congratulate the man he lost to, and respectfully make his curtain call on the 2012 Election.
President Obama will be serving his second term, despite how upset it made a lot of citizens. The American people, regardless of political acquaintance, should all gather behind our leader, and keep moving forward, and keep the US on top. We hope to see some big changes in the next four years. If not, there’s always a new election right around the corner.
