As a Christian, morally, I do not believe in voting for the legalization of medical marijuana. I look at it as there are already medicines out there that relieve pain but don’t alter the functions of the brain like marijuana does.
Also, marijuana has no healing power. It simply sends a relieving flow to the brain that can cause you to forget things you have done which can be dangerous to the general public.
With marijuana being legalized for medical uses, people will become more open with their use of marijuana because it will become more excepted and less questioned. Younger children will learn the effects of it and may be more likely to try it thus leading to addiction.
I feel that if marijuana is legalized for medical purposes, it may cause doctors to decrease their efforts to pursue research for new medicine.
With marijuana distracting a person from their illness and altering their brain, who will want to try other medicines?
If people aren’t willing to test out other medicines, they will never be healed and simply distracted. Marijuana makes many people care less about what’s going on around them and makes some things seem less dangerous which can lead to bad judgment.
Bad judgment in your daily life can affect your future potentially longer than your illness might.
Marijuana can cause loss of coordination and trouble with thinking, so wouldn’t being high while driving have to be made illegal?
I believe that if marijuana was legalized for medical purposes it would simply be a hassle for police and prescribed users because it would always have to be proven that the marijuana is only being used for medically prescribed reasons.
We should not make legal something that will only make the country that much more dangerous and out of control.
