As the second Presidential debate comes to a close, voters still are left scratching their undecided heads and wondering who to vote for.
The town-hall style debate was held in Long Island, New York Oct. 16. Questions were chosen by the moderator, CNN’s Candy Crowley, from those submitted by 82 uncommitted voters in the room and then asked to the candidates.
While I am a big Mitt Romney supporter, I believe he and opponent President Obama both lacked a certain je ne sais quoi in Tuesday night’s debate. Both candidates adopted the “beat around the bush” approach, never fully answering the questions that were asked.
Watching the debate aggravated me to no end! It astounded me how neither Governor Romney, nor President Obama could just come out with a straight answer.
If never getting a complete answer from either side wasn’t enough, let’s throw in a moderator who basically resembled a welcome mat. Crowley let both contenders interrupt her and hijack the debate. Add to this the moderator’s partisan comment regarding Libya and you leave the debate with anything but a good impression.
The moderator is supposed to keep both men in line, remain neutral, and stick to the two minute per question response time. Instead, the rule book seemed to go out the window and the debate became a free-for-all!
Even though I’m not old enough to vote just yet, I like to stay caught up with the campaigns to see where our country is heading for in the next election, when I do get to cast my vote. But as the campaigns near the end, I am still left wondering what either side’s actual plan for the country is.
Maybe it’s time to bring out the boxing gloves, put the contenders in the ring, and may the best man win. This might be better than letting millions of undecided, uninformed or confused voters step behind the curtain and choose the next President of the United States.
Let’s be honest. Neither Mitt Romney nor Barack Obama has truly proven themselves to be presidential material. Hopefully when the final numbers roll in, one candidate will give the American people a clear winner.
