The fourth and final debate took place Oct. 22. at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama took the stage where they discussed views and plans on foreign policy. It appears as though American viewers were surprised of the outcome.
Firstly, I’d love to acknowledge President Obamas sense of humor. There’s no denying it was unnecessary and unprofessional, but it was very entertaining nonetheless.
When Obama referred to Romneys concern of Russia, he then said, “the 1980’s are calling, and they want their foreign policy back.” Not only this, but he also later made a comment (an internet sensation) of how the US no longer uses horses and bayonets.
Viewers saw the best of both candidates in the debate. In the first debate, which Romney undoubtedly won, Obama was too polite. In the second, Obama came out swinging, which I think caught Governor Romney off guard, thus leading to the President’s victory.
The final one made it a bit harder to choose a victor. Obama stuck with aggressiveness, as we saw in the second debate. Romney didn’t allow the President to step on him, so he refuted Obama equally as aggressive.
Unfortunately, this led to an annoying debate of facts. There was a constant back and forth where both candidates were saying ‘thats not true, but this is true,’ ‘well that’s not true, but this is true.’
For their targeted audience, the undecided voters, it’s hard to know who to believe; it leads to further uninformed voters. So, if you were watching the debates and you found your self saying “What??” a lot, I’m sorry that these vague politicians couldn’t help you out.
And for those of you who have the heart of a lion and managed to watch the whole debate without hanging yourself from the ceiling fan, I applaud you.
There should be equal work between citizens, to research facts, and between candidates, to state those facts clearly. Once we manage to do this, people will be able to tweet “I hate Romney.” or “I hate Obama.” or “I hate them both.” and actually know why they feel this way.
