Who likes sitting in a line of cars that could wrap around the earth twice? Not me. Especially what I’m almost late to school.
Recently, construction around the intersection of Elm Springs Road and 40th Street was completed. The construction began towards the end of last year and was finished a few days before school started. The roads used to be cramped, creating a line that could back up for a good mile. Widening the roads has made it easier for traffic to move faster and for people to get where they need to go.
Being a student, getting to school in the mornings and getting home after school used to be a big nightmare. Now getting to school is easy like a Sunday morning. I must send out my thanks to the construction company for completing a worthwhile project.
The construction created double lanes on both sides of the road and a new stoplight, making more room for the constant stream of care. Since the roads are so close to the interstate, cars are always passing through and it cam seem to be never ending.
This past week, I have been able to get home in a record eight minutes! Compared to the 30 minutes it too last year, it’s a big step forward. Some people feel that the roads are confusing and are not going to benefit anyone. For me, the new lanes have been my savior.
Most of the construction that happens in Springdale is irrelevant and doesn’t really help people. But these new roads have actually succeeded in their original plan. Now instead of feeling like slamming my head into a wall, I can relax and turn up my Spice Girls CD as I head to school.
