The love for your teammates is one of the hardest things to to explain. The bonds that are formed and the friendships that are made are indescribable.
I compete on Ozark All Stars, an all star cheer program. This season we are undefeated with one competition left. My team is not really my team; I’d call them my second family.
At the beginning of the year, when we all got together, it was kind of awkward. No one knew each other very well, and we were not exactly “clicking.”
Eventually we started getting more open with each other. As practices went by, we started joking around more and became one big group. Everyone talks to everyone, and there aren’t any cliques, and there’s no drama.
In my sport, you have to trust your teammates with your life. If one little thing goes wrong, the flyer could end up slamming into the ground from ten feet in the air. My team, I’m proud to say, I have no doubts in. We all trust each other with everything and have all of the confidence in the world in each other.
It takes a special group of people to be able to have that kind of bond. Even when we lost a team member, we all stuck together and made it work.
When something goes wrong, no one holds all of the blame. It’s OUR fault, or WE’LL fix it. It is all a team effort and everyone gives 100% every time we are out on the mat, and our results show it.
There is not another group of people I’d rather be on the mat with. The love we share for each other and the sport can’t be matched. I love my team. No, I love my cheer family, and I can’t wait to finish out the 2012 season strong with them.
