700 days! We have only 700 days of high school out of the 20 or 30,000 we have. If we only spend 700 days in high school, then why do we let these days define us? Why do we let the rumors, the gossip, and the bullies, make us who we are?
So many kids get bullied everyday. They get teased and feel like there’s no one out there who wants them anymore. They feel abandoned by their friends and hated by those who pick on them.
Why do those kids who are bullied let it affect their whole lives? Why do they let it define who they are and who they become? Yes, it’s hard to have people tell you negative things about yourself, but these kids don’t know what you can do.
You hear of tragedy that happens in high schools, kids committing suicide or hurting others because of these bullies. These kids let the bad parts of high school define them. They let the bullies win, and then they feel like they have to lash out in order to be rid of them or to make themselves feel better.
We should change this. Kids feel like this because others don’t include them or make them feel bad. As high school students, we have the power to make those kids who feel left out feel included for a change. We have the power to stop talking bad about others behind their backs. We have the power to stop others and ourselves from bullying. If you just smile or even say “Hi,” it can change someone’s whole day.
We can’t change what other people do or say whether they’re outcasts or bullies, but we can surely try and maybe change the way a few people look at life.
