Art has many faces, many names, and many contributors. Without art we have nothing because everything that you see was once a piece of art. It was a plan; a drawing put into action. The proper definition of art is “the expression or application of human creative skills and imagination, typically in a visual form such as paintings or sculptures.”
The technical definition is nothing compared to the definition from the point of view of the artist though.
If you were to ask an artist like Leah Roddey or Emily Pianalto, they might tell you that art is the factor of “wow! I created that” or tell you it’s “Saying everything without saying anything.”
Of course you have to take into consideration the many forms of art.
Think of it this way: every time that you put your iPod in your ears and pick a song, you actually interact with several forms of art. The song that you picked and all the music you listen too is art and the musicians are the artist.
The visual design of the iPod was first drawn out and went through many forms of art before being assembled.
The software that holds all your media was designed by an artist in art form. All the way to your headphones. Your headphones were sketched out and designed by an artist.
Chances are that everything that you see is due to the results of an artist’s work.
Art isn’t just drawing what you want. It’s a visual language and it’s one of the mostly widely used language on the planet.
Every culture has art. The messages can be powerful and its symbols clear. Indians use body art to symbolize war, peace, and honor as well religious traditions. Ancient civilizations used art not only to decorate but also to symbolize burials and tombs.
Some people believe that even alien visitors have left their art as messages on the side of rocks and in mountains and in visual designs in crop fields known as crop circles.
Look around you and take a big breath. Just admire the visual art that has been displayed in front of you. Who knows? You may even be inspired to pick up a pen or paintbrush and let your mind speak.
