A panel of five judges sits with thirty plus students auditioning for the annual talent show, Har-Ber’s Got Talent. Mr. Brown, the choir director said, “The show included an assortment of singing, dancing, guitar players, and even a beatboxer.” The actual show only included a total of sixteen acts and was run by students.
“There are few limitations to what the acts can include,” said choir director Mr. Brown. “Acts are limited only to anything artistic or that requires thought.”
The show was put together by a group of three students, Jacob Reynolds, Jaclynn Pianalto, and Grace Hannon. Senior Jacob Reynolds said, “I was a little stressed, but all the talent seemed pretty reliable.”
Reynolds was in charge of finding the judges for the show and making sure all the talent is on time and ready to perform. Reynolds said, “I’ve never been in the school talent show. I was very excited for the show.”
One of the sixteen talents, sophomore Alex Bryan sang “Remembering Sunday” by Falling in Reverse for the show. Bryan is signed with NCK Talent Academy and takes every chance to perform. Bryan had been working on her act for a couple weeks before the show. Bryan said she was, “more excited than nervous” and also said, “when performing I don’t think, I just do.”
Another talent in the show was sophomore Hannah Moore, who danced to “Sail” by AWOLNATION. Moore is involved with Impulse Dance Company in Farmington. Moore said, “I’ve performed in front of large crowds at competitions.” Moore had been working on her act for about two to three weeks before the show.
“I was fairly nervous, but excited to show what I can do.”
Talent show first place winner, sophomore Adriana Ruiz, was the final act of the show as a beatboxer. Ruiz has been beatboxing for about a year and a half. Ruiz said, “my inspiration came from watching YouTube videos of people beatboxing.” Ruiz said, “I never expected to be picked as third or second place, especially not first.”
Ruiz plans to continue beatboxing as her hobby.
