As class of 2013 prepares for their final semester of high school, memories and experiences will be left behind. In one final video of commemoration, Har-Bers EAST program will be sponsoring a lip dub video.
A lip dub video is basically a video of someone mouthing the words to a song while it plays in the background. Senior Alexis Arenas and manager of the project explained.
“The song is going to be ‘Some Nights’ by Fun. It’s not going to be like any other lip-dub where you just walk around the hallways, but there’s going to be a message behind it,” he said.
Arenas plans on making the lip-dub about Anti-Bullying, and adding a completely different dimension that other lip dub videos lack.
“We’re going to have a back story of the main actor where he gets bullied at home. He’ll fall asleep, and wake up at Har-Ber,” said Arenas. “He’s going to have his ipod on, he’s going to play ‘Some Nights,’ and that’s when the lip dub starts.”
To get as high quality of a video as possible, Arenas isn’t going to accept just anybody, and plans on holding auditions the week of Dec. 10-14.
“We want them to happen at least three times, so maybe Tuesday during academic period, one time after school, and on Thursday during activity period,” Arenas continued. “So two times during school hours and once after school.”
Arenas stated that they will have material, for anyone who’s interested, at auditions.
“The lead actor has to be able to act for dramatic scenes at the beginning. We’re needing 38 students to be involved in acting parts. We want to make sure that they are committed, because we’ll practice 3-4 times before Christmas break, so that’ll be during finals; half days, so they’ll half to stay after their test is over for 30 minutes to an hour.”
Filming will happen on the first Friday after returning from break, Jan. 11, during an extended activity period. The video is going to capture the energy and good times that the class of 2013 experienced. The video will include all clubs that want to participate.
