School Fusion, Springdale School District’s internet host, is a thing of the past.
For the last three years, faculty, schools, students and parents in the district have relied on School Fusion to organize assignments and keep parents informed of school activities.
“I use it almost daily to connect to parents and students as well as post calendars, vocabulary, and handouts,” said English teacher Susan Felder.
School Fusion for students, faculty, and staff was a regular part of the day. The website housed applications such as Gradebook, WorldClient, and others while also providing students with a source for additional help on assignments on Moodle.
“I used it last year almost on a weekly basis for classes like AP U.S. History,” said senior Rachel Humphrys.
Many teachers relied on their websites for posting assignments and keeping track of school activities. Parents could also monitor their student’s grades and were easily able to see test scores as well as what was going on in the classroom. School Fusion was also used for keeping track of games and schedules for other important events.
Although many used School Fusion, the district has decided to change it for a smoother host, Sharp School.
“The district purchased a new software that would be more user friendly, has better features, and a better calendar,” said junior assistant principal Michael Shepherd.
The new Internet host, Sharp School, was chosen because of its much better interface.
“I personally shopped around for new software because we had trouble with School Fusion’s customer service,” said lab technician Tonya Truitt.
The new software allows better interface and new options to students. E-Keeper, one of the new features from Sharp School, allows students to actually store information in their own file instead of having to use a jump drive.
Sharp School has many new options for students and parents allowing everyone to have a better experience when using the school website. Gradebook and other applications are still available through the new host.
“We’re hoping to transition over Labor Day weekend if possible,” said Mrs. Truitt.
