As Mrs. Nicole Davis and her husband Cody Davis drive through the Springdale city limits, the realization that city life was over had officially set in.
“It was a big change from the city to a more rural area,” said assistant principal Mrs. Davis.
Mrs. Davis is originally from Gary, TX. Gary has a population of 303 people. She moved from her hometown to Houston, TX, and lived there until moving to Springdale.
“I grew up in a rural area, so it was like going back home,” Mrs. Davis said.
Mrs. Davis’ family moved to Northwest Arkansas because her husband transferred here to work for Walmart. The district website has the assistant principal position posted, which is how Mrs. Davis heard about the job.
“I drove by Har-Ber and thought that’s where I want to work and I knew they had a job opening,” said Mrs. Davis. “I went in without an appointment just to talk to Dr. Brackett and five minutes later he called in Mrs. Tisher and Dr. Shepherd.”
Just two hours later, Mrs. Davis received a call and found out she had an interview with the superintendent, Dr. Jim Rollins, the following week. The confirmation came at the end of May. She got the job. Family reactions were all positive until facing the big move.
“At first they were excited that I got the job, but they got nervous about moving so far from home,” said Mrs. Davis.
Adjusting to the new facility has been easier with the help of coworkers.
“I had to do a double take to make sure it was a high school,” said Mrs. Davis. “My questions are answered daily, and teachers share successes that students had in the past so I know how awesome the student body is.”
There is always a lot going on at the school and plenty of extra-curricular activities leaving the new principal with a lot to look forward to.
“I’m looking forward to sporting events, the nationally recognized band, choir, and seeing all students succeed,” said Mrs. Davis.
With moving to a new area, with a new job, student impressions are important to make. Mrs. Davis is very eager to see what this year has in store.
“I’m energetic, focused, and ready to be a Wildcat,” said Mrs. Davis.
