As senior Ty Kirkland steps out onto the runway, he was thinking “Please don’t fall!” over and over again. On March 8 the first Northwest Arkansas Fashion Week show was held in Fayetteville off the square. The event concluded March 17.
Different types of fashion were presented on the runway, such as prom dresses, tutu’s and more. The audience was left in awe with all the different styles.
“It was a cool experience, and I liked seeing all the different styles,” said senior Christina Herbert.
Senior Garret Comer and Kirkland were participated in Fashion Week in effort to help out Amanda Whitney, the owner and founder of Tutu Coture. Herbert also helped Whitney by doing the make up for all the girls modeling for Tutu Coture.
“I helped out my aunt, and she made Ty and me match. We wore the NWA fashion show shirt, and our letter man jackets. It was really weird because I haven’t ever done anything like it before. It was very nerve wracking, but fun,” said Comer.
The fashion show was completely sold out a week before the show. Senior Chanel Gray wore a strapless, creamy white, floor length wedding gown by designer Romona Keveza from She Said Yes bridal store in Rogers. She Said Yes was one of 29 various boutiques featured in Fashion Week.
“I would love to make modeling a career, and if the opportunity presented itself, then I would definitely pursue it. It was a great experience, and I loved working with everyone that I did. As soon as I walked onto the runway I was thinking, ‘Wow these lights are so bright, and this music is so loud.’,” said senior Chanel Gray.
