Waking up to the sound of her 5 a.m. alarm, senior Brooke Schneider knew it was going to be a big day.
“My best friend and my sister helped me get ready. It took us about two hours to completely finish my hair and makeup,” said Schneider.
The homecoming assembly began at 11 a.m., and Schneider was ready to show off her gorgeous gown for the first time. After the assembly, friends and family gathered to take pictures with her and enjoy this great experience with her. Later that night, the Lady Wildcats played a game against the Heritage War Eagles .
Schneider came off the bench to score a helpful four points.
“The reason I put her in the game had nothing to do with homecoming. I try to give all of my players a chance to play. About four other girls play her position, so it’s hard to get them all in sometimes,” said Coach Sandy Wright.
As the victorious game was coming to an end, Coach Wright knew the girls needed to get ready for crowning.
“I asked Brooke if she wanted to go get ready or if she wanted to play some more, and she chose to get back in the game,” said Coach Wright. “It makes me proud to see my girls on court. It’s nice to see them represent our team.”
After the game, Schneider got ready in a record ten minutes before the crowning.
Anxiously standing with her father Wade by her side, Schneider waited to hear who would become the Winter Homecoming Queen. A huge grin started to form on Mr. Schneider’s face as they announced that she would be Homecoming Queen.
“I was speechless and surprised. I couldn’t believe it was happening,” said Schneider. With tears running down her face, Mrs. Schneider knew this was an important moment for Brooke and her whole family.
“I was extremely happy for my kiddo. It was a good chance for all of us to celebrate and support her,” said Mrs. Schneider.
Brooke is the third generation Homecoming Queen winner, which makes the event even more spectacular.
“I mean how awesome, three generations of homecoming queens, imagine that!” said Schneider.
