“Who doesn’t like tie-dye,” said Elizabeth Rogers, sophomore English teacher.
The idea of the Fashion Club was conceived last year by senior Ramen Lewis. He had it approved then asked Ms. Rogers to be the sponsor. He knew she would be perfect for this club since she has a degree in fashion.
“I wanted to add a little more creativity to Har-Ber High. I feel some people could use fashion as an outlet,” said Lewis. “I hope to accomplish getting fashion noticed because in the south, it’s definitely challenging to get people’s attention through fashion and I love a challenge.”
The fashion club did a tie-dye buffet February 9-10 as their first fundraiser. The money raised will help them out in their fashion show hosted by the International Club. Students bring their t-shirts and $5, and they tie-dye it for you. The club has also made sure of to display the event around the school.
“I don’t remember what I was doing. It didn’t have anything to do with tie-dye, but it just came to me. I just had a moment, kind of like a genius, who doesn’t like tie-dye?” said Ms. Rogers.
They are looking forward to going to NWA fashion week and to develop business relationships with the fashion industry. Just because you wear a popular brand does not mean you got it going on. Fashion is what you make out of your clothes. It doesn’t have to have to be expensive; the fashion club is about teaching student how to be trendy.
Ms. Rogers wants to show the members of the fashion club the opportunities they have to expend their arms among the fashion industry. They will be looking at small businesses here and going to the U of A to learn more about business.
