A spectacular light show exploding with vivid pulsating color and wonderful holiday decorations can be seen driving anywhere near the corner of Jones and Coyote Crossing in Har-Ber Meadows. While many people are content with simply stringing up a few lights and a tree to celebrate the Christmas season, Mr. Jason Hull is not one of them. Each year the Hulls spend hours upon hours to create arguably the most elaborately decorated home in their neighborhood.
“We figure it took about 250 man hours, not including the time it takes to program the lights to the music,” said Hull.
Those who come to visit the captivating Christmas display after 6:30 p.m. can also tune into 93.1 FM, to listen to the Christmas music which is synced with the lights on a computer and broadcasted from the house via FM transmitter.
Set up time aside, it also costs the Hulls a great deal of money to fund the decorations each year.
“It’s quite expensive. There are control boxes that hook up the lights to the computer and everything. Overall it all costs around $15,000,” Hull said.
Though they save some money by re-using many of the decorations each year, it still costs an enormous sum of money for the electricity and other expenditures involved.
“We don’t usually talk about how much it costs. My wife would kill me..I’d probably be single,” said Hull.
Despite these expenses, he continues with the elaborate decorations each year.
“This is our fourth year having an over the top Christmas display,” said Hull. “It’s one of those things, it kinda took a life of its own. It’s a motto in my family that ‘anything that’s worth doing is worth overdoing.’ People enjoy it, its just a way to spread the holiday cheer.”
