Glistening and glossed perfectly, her flavor-enhanced lips could be smelt and seen as soon as she entered the room.
Har-Ber sophomore English teacher Liz Wheeler is known for having a slight obsession with lip balm products.
“I keep my Chapstick in five different places,” Mrs. Wheeler said. “There’s one in my car, my purse, my bathroom, my nightstand, and my desk drawer in my classroom.”
Among her plethora of lip balm products, Mrs. Wheeler has a preference.
“Bath and Body Works has a flavor called ‘My Favorite Night Balm, and it’s my absolute favorite,” she said.
Mrs. Wheeler isn’t the only one with an addiction to Chapstick. Sophomore Austin Henderson also shares the love of the repairing flavored balm.
“I eat it,” Henderson said. “Doesn’t everyone?”
Henderson also tells of remedies besides his lip balm he believes to work just as well.
“Lotion,” he jokes. “Oh, and chicken grease works, too.”
According to nurse Janet Gershner, dry weather and licking your lips too much is what leads to chapped lips.
“Chapstick with sunscreen in it helps a lot in dry weather,” Mrs. Gershner said.
She believes “Burt’s Bees” to work best.
Although nurse Gershner’s addiction to Chapstick isn’t as strong as the other, she still has a favorite – Pomegranate Chapstick.
Sophomore Olivia Allen prevents chapped lips by using Chapstick every night and carries it in her backpack.
“When I have chapped lips, I feel gross, and as if they’ll just crack right off,” Allen said.
Allen’s addiction isn’t as strong as the others either, but is still not uncommon, and she has a preferred flavor as well.
“Minty lip balm or anything that leaves my lips with a tingling feeling [is my favorite,]” Allen said.
