The rain poured down as sophomore Kerrigan Reading exited the school. The cold wind pushed her forward as she raced to her car. The other students milling about seemed immune. The work from the school day weighed her down.
As she rounded the blue Ford, the chalk outline became visible. The words below shocked her immobile. Then heart raced with excitement.
“Kerrigan, I would die to go to prom with you.”
And as junior Robert “Mich” Lamendola rounded the corner with flowers and a smile, all she could say was “yes.”
“When he asked, it was just so cute and creative that I knew we would have a great time” said Reading.
With a little help from the internet and a lot of creativity, Lamendola and a few of his friends, who helped draw the outline, were able to seamlessly pull this off.
“I’m looking forward to prom, and I just want to have fun with it,” said Lamendola.
Junior Maressa Gibson was asked by her boyfriend of four months, senior Chase Kinne.
“It was so nice, and I can’t wait for prom,” she said. With Easter in mind, one afternoon he asked her to dye eggs. Before she arrived, he wrote four letters and a question mark on eggs in wax. As she began dying the eggs, the word “prom” spelled itself out. She said yes.
“I knew she’d say ‘yes.’” said Kinne.
Junior Adeline Williams was asked by junior Timmy Faubus is a very spectacular way. With soccer being very important to her, he knew just the way to surprise her. He was in the stands at the Springdale vs. Har-Ber game with his friends. He waited with his friends for her to walk through the tunnel. Once she appeared, they stood holding signs asking for her to go with him. She said “yes.”
“I just wanted it to be special for her,” said Faubus.
