With the smell of paint in the air,the crowds of other excited young artist, and excitement racing through his veins he moved forward to collect his recognition of being the one of the best artists in the state of Arkansas. Senior Dallin Fawcett won first place for charcoal/conte realistic in the Little Rock’s Arts Young Artists Association Competition.
“This was such a great experience and I had so much fun,” said Fawcett.
He had not had any intention of winning first place but with the force of his friends behind he went for the first time to Little Rock, Arkansas to attend the AYAA. All pieces entered had been worked on in class for weeks. His piece depicted a hand playing guitar and was part of his twelve concentrations.
“With art you just have to keep at it tell you get better” said senior Eduardo Martinez.
His second place win in the category color pencil realistic came at a surprise. While he felt no fear at competing and his excitement was almost palpable, he was a little nervous this only being his second year of attending and his first win so far.
“Art is just too much fun to ever think of giving up on it,” said junior Tabitha Lewis.
Even though she did not win any awards this year she was happy to have been able to go to such an amazing event. Her favorite part was cheering from the crowds when someone from their school won. Her favorite piece she entered was her dissected flower made from water pastels and ink.
“I enjoyed being surrounded by all the different art and its an experience I wouldn’t want to miss,” said senior Jessica Holloway.
This future tattoo artist won first place in her one hour long on site race. They were given a prompt and a choice of three words from a list given. The words she picked were dark, dream, and door.
