Senior Jordan Scott’s mom has been the teacher of Sunday night bible hour at Johnson Church of Christ for many years, and when it came time that Scott was too old for Bible hour, she decided assisting her mom in class was what she wanted to do.
“I help in the nursery at church as well as assist my mom with in teaching Bible hour,” said Scott.
Scott hopes to become a pre-school or kindergarten teacher thanks to multiple people who have inspired her.
“My favorite teacher was my kidergarten teacher, so that’s why I chose that age group and my aunt and my mom both do forms of teaching,” said Scott.
Having always enjoyed the chance to be able to interact with kids, Scott not only loves to play with them and hold them but also finds delight in getting to teach them religious and academic materials.
“For teaching class we had to job shadow and I was with one class for three days and I developed such a bond with them which I really enjoyed,” said Scott.
Scott thoroughly enjoys many church events that allow her to spend more time with the children.
“I enjoy the Polar Express night. It is for about four or five hours and I just get to play with the kids,” said Scott.
The ambiance of the classroom is something that attracts Scott into teaching.
“I liked the atmosphere, and I feel like it’s something I could do,” said Scott.
Scott learned from her interactions with children that those type of relationships are what she cares for and hopes for.
“From my teaching class experiences I realized I want that bond with children,” she said.
Her hopes are humble and her love for children is shown through all the actvities and groups she is a part of that allow her to work with children. Theses activities range from Wildcat play-school to the church nursery.
“I want to make a difference in children’s lives,” she said.
