Jumping to catch the ball, junior Kylie Buttram ran up the middle of the field only to be cut short a couple inches by a member of the Mad Catters.
“It was really rough. We didn’t really know what to do so we chose a play,” said Buttram.
Although people often underestimate the ability of girls playing football, the powder puff games were quite exciting. Some participants chose to join powder puff football on their own like sophomore Payton Frisinger.
“I joined because a bunch of senior girls that I played volleyball with asked me to and I thought it would be fun,” said Frisinger.
While others, like Buttram, were signed up without having the intention of actually playing.
“I wasn’t going to do it, but they signed me up so I did it. It was fun,” said Buttram.
For some girls that may have otherwise been seen as the calm and collected type, this allowed them to show their more aggressive side.
“I don’t really look like it, but I love to be aggressive,” said senior Savannah Setter.
English teacher Amy Johnson was part of the Mad Catters composed of the teachers, who were quite aggressive. She found it fun to interact with the other teachers and students outside of the usual classroom setting.
“It was just fun to hang out with the other teachers, and the practices were always fun. It was a good way to interact with your students outside of the classroom,” said Mrs. Johnson.
