ESL chemistry teacher Lael Lynch took her classes to an educational field trip to Onyx Coffee Lab.
The purpose of the trip was for students to be able to have a hands-on experience with determining how the chemistry of coffee can change the aroma and flavors of different coffee beans.
The students did a coffee cupping where they compared and contrasted the different coffee to see how acidity, moisture content, and elevation of the growth affects the beans.
“They had a cultured experience by learning how to order specialized coffee and to connect science papers that we read with a real world experience,” said Mrs. Lynch.
Mrs. Lynch would like specifically for her ESL classes to continue this trip in the future, and Onyx is open to having larger classes visit as well.
