As the crocheted sack of tiny beads descends to the ground, junior Joseph Weir rushes to bounce it back in the air to keep the game alive.
“You don’t loose or win or anything. You just see how long you can go,” said Weir.
Hacky sack is an outlet for several students during the hustle and bustle of high school. With worry about school hanging over one’s head, students make the most passing periods and lunch to have some fun and forget about what the rest of the day may hold.
“I play hacky sack because it’s just fun. It’s pretty simple,” said senior Jerry Wood.
Hacky sack has been a hobby for some students for many years.
“I started playing hacky sack because there was this hacky sack club at Southwest,” said senior Cory Evans.
Everyday hacky sack draws in more and more players, with it being so simple to understand and interesting to watch.
“I play at lunch with Corey Evans, Hugo Macias, and J.J. Miller,” said senior Adan Morales.
People who otherwise would not have ever crossed paths join together to play this entertaining game.
“It’s a nice group activity and it establishes good relationships,” said Weir.
