Even at a young age, senior Kristen Grisham has enjoyed taking photos and capturing happy moments in the lives of her family and friends.
Grisham started out taking photos of landscapes and moved onto taking pictures of friends. After posting a few shots on Facebook and getting positive feedback, Grisham found her calling.
What started as a hobby became a career for Grisham. Her business is called KrissCross Photography, and it’s gotten insurmountable positive feedback.
“My mom, my best friend Michaela, and my two uncles inspire me by telling me that photography is a real job, that it’s necessary,” said Grisham.
First came the skill, which Grisham said was learned through experience.
“I looked at pictures on Instagram and Pintrest, and just all over the Internet to find styles I like and what looks good,” said Grisham.
Next came the camera.
“My dad actually bought it for me when he was visiting. I saved up money for it and he paid the rest of the way,” said Grisham.
Grisham’s business started with photos of friends, which spread by word of mouth and Internet popularity. She takes couple pictures, senior pictures, and basically just any photo shoot.
So far, the business has 232 likes on Facebook, with more than 15 clients in the books so far. Grisham is actually making a successful business out of her talent, with most people’s shoots run from $110 to $125.
She plans to study photography in college at John Brown University and then pursue it as a career in the future.
