One day after the one-year anniversary of the death of her best friend, Morgan Hamilton, senior Emily Pianalto walked into the Brainstorm tattoo parlor in Fayetteville.
“I have a fear of needles, but I decided I needed to do something. She died in pain, so I can go through the pain. I was thinking about her the whole time.” said Pianalto.
The tattoo Pianalto got on her left shoulder was a purple daisy with a yellow center and Morgan Lee written around it. Pianalto made the daisy purple because it was Morgan’s favorite color and the center yellow because it is her favorite color.
” I got it on my left shoulder because she would be my maid of honor and that’s where she’s suppose to be,” said Pianalto.
Junior Corey Evans has two tattoos with special meaning.
“I’m Hawaiian and I love my family, so I got ‘family’ in Hawaiian. And my birthmark is in the shape of a cloud and I love Jesus, so I got Jesus peeking over my birth mark,” said Evans.
Evans got his family tattoo a week before spring break and his Jesus tattoo a week after at Knight Times in Fayetteville.
Senior Ian Dickinson has his whole right arm tattooed with reminders of his old life and who he is now.
“I have a cross, raven, a quote, clouds, and roses. The meaning is how life is, the reality of life, and where I’m going. I used to have a drug problem. I became a Christian and now this is how my life is,” said Dickinson.
The meaning behind the raven tattoo is a reminder that he grew up in Washington D.C. and all the things he has done wrong. The roses show that his life was born in confusion and in the death of his confusion he turned to Christ. The quote serves as encouragement.
“Son, you’re never too far gone.”
