Junior Liz Larsen waits in her theater chair for the midnight premiere of Breaking Dawn to begin. Finally, after hours of waiting, the lights dim, signaling the start of the movie. Whispers fill the theatre as Twihards settle in for the movie of the year to begin. The first scene appears, as Jacob Black, (Taylor Lautner), rips off his shirt, revealing rock hard abs, and escapes into the woods in a rage of fury.
“That was definitely my favorite part,” said junior Hannah Ash, “I am a hardcore Team Jacob fan.”
On Friday, November 28, Breaking Dawn Part I was released into theaters nationwide at midnight with a whopping gross of estimated $139.5 million, demolishing runner-up ‘Happy Feet Two’s $22 million.
“It was definitely the best Twilight movie so far,” said Larsen.
Even though Larsen had a great time watching the movie, she had tons of fun waiting in line playing cards and charades with friends.
“That was the best part,” said Larsen, “I was with good friends and that’s what made it fun.”
Both Larsen and Ash decided to attend the premiere to continue tradition. They have both been to the other premiere and couldn’t miss one of the last ones.
“I’ve been a big fan since the beginning,” said Larsen, “I even went to the midnight release of the book Breaking Dawn.
Sophomores Sam Webber and Casey Stark were the second ones in their theatre and laughed their way through the entire movie. Even though the movie wasn’t one of their favorites, they still enjoyed the night.
“It was fun watching the people around us freak out about Twilight,” said Webber.
