The Do’s and Don’ts of twitter.
- You don’t tweet everything because it gets annoying. Also don’t tweet 20 or more times a day; you’re ruining everyone’s timeline and you’re most likely to get un-followed. We don’t want to know your bowel movements, so please keep it to yourself!
- Clever, entertaining, and funny tweets are always the good way to go. Everyone gets a kick out of it, and you’re most likely to gain more followers and gain more respect. If that’s the case, followers don’t mind if you tweet that often.
- Respect the Hash-Tag. A Hash-Tag is a symbol (#) used for anything relating to your tweet. There are also many twitter trends, which is what everyone is tweeting about at one time. For example, if the Super Bowl was on, it would most likely be a trending topic and so would the teams playing in it.
- Re-tweeting gets really annoying when people don’t hit the re-tweet button and copy and paste someone’s tweet and type RT at the end of it. There’s no point of doing that when there’s a button made just for it! Don’t over use the re-tweet button and re-tweet everyone and everything.
- TWITTER IS NOT A COMPETITION. Who cares how many followers you have?
- Eggheads (usually fake accounts, but can be people who are too lazy to post a picture) get annoying really fast. We don’t want to follow your fake iPods, computers, or televisions.
- We want useful or interesting information, not advertising.
- Trending Tweets. Trending tweets are twitter’s way of telling you what people are tweeting about. What’s really annoying is a trending tweet about Justin Bieber…always at anytime of day! There’s also some very interesting trends that can relate to your everyday life which are pretty cool.
- Follow people you like or find resources that provide you with helpful information.
- Tweet. Why have an account if you aren’t going to post anything? Take advantage of the social media, but keep in mind the suggestions made above.
