Orange! Orange!
That was the only thing junior Summer Morgan knew for sure. She knew that she wanted to have an orange tie dyed shirt.
She had never tie dyed before, and she was a little hesitant to try.
“I was excited to see the outcome. I thought it was going to be hideous. I went outside and noticed that a lot of people had tie dyed before and knew exactly what they were doing. I was kind of confused, but it was all okay at the end,” said Morgan.
Mrs. Lynsey Reynolds’ Chemistry classes took a break from their routine and went outside to tie dye. Though the weather was an obstacle once again, the classes could not postpone the activity for the fourth time.
The activity originally was planned for Oct. 24 as an alternative to Mole Day.
The purpose of this activity was to demonstrate how tie dying involved Chemistry and how Chemistry is used daily even with the smallest things.
“The important part of Chemistry is not just to teach the concept but to let the students actually see it,” said Pre-AP Chemistry teacher Lynsey Reynolds.
The students will not be tested over dying materials, but that did not stop them from putting their best effort into it.
“We had a blast outside though the weather did interfere a bit. It was nice to actually do some hands-on Chemistry and see how it is applicable in the really world,” said junior Meg Dyrhood.
