Everyone knows the little child’s rhyme, “Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water.” But now a movie named Jack and Jill was released Nov. 11. Although, they were not quite running up a hill to get water. It was more like climbing a hill in Spain.
The movie was directed by Dennis Dugan and movie featured Adam Sandler as both of the twins, Jack and Jill. Many more famous actors made special appearances throughout the movie such as Al Pacino and Johnny Depp.
Along with the many stars, the movie’s subject was intriguing altogether. I did enjoy Sandler playing both Jack and Jill. Most actors don’t make very convincing women, but I think out of all the movies I’ve seen, this one was by far the best.
I also thoroughly enjoyed this film because I could relate to it. Everyone has that one family member whether it’s a crazy aunt or strange cousin. Jill is that odd family member.
The biggest factor in the movie’s appeal is that it is a comedy. Yes, Sandler is always funny, but the love craze that Pacino has for Jill is just relentless.
Jack and his wife adopted an Indian boy who has a fetish for taping things to himself. He tapes all sorts of things to him, from a salt shaker to a lobster. Not all of the funny moments occurred by humans. Jill has a pet cockatiel named Poopsie. The bird aimed snide comments to Jack throughout the film.
All of the actors did a great job with their parts. I couldn’t have pictured it any other way. The movie’s plot flowed very well together. It all starts when the family finds out that Jill is coming over for Christmas break. The only problem is that when she gets there, she doesn’t want to leave. It soon becomes a battle between the twins and learning what being a sibling is all about.
I recommend “Jack and Jill” for anyone who enjoys a good comedy with a surprising emotional twist.
