TV shows and movies based on zombies is nothing new to the entertainment industry. Many have tried to create really good zombie related entertainment and very few actually make it big.
Francis Lawrences’ I Am Legend was well done and was very successful. It had great acting along with excellent special effects. However, the zombies didn’t feel like true zombies. They couldn’t be exposed to sunlight, which made it seem more like vampires than zombies.
So another film was a success but still lacked what is needed for excellent brain smashing entertainment.
The Walking Dead on AMC is a weekly TV show that airs every Sunday at 8 p.m. The show is on its second season and did exceptionally well during the first. It seems to be getting more popular every week.
The show has great actors and actresses who nail emotional moments when someone they love gets torn to pieces and when they have to make the choice of letting them roam hopelessly as a “walker” or to put them out of their misery.
The writers of the show do an excellent job at delivering huge plot twists that will leave you wondering about what’s going to happen next. You think you have it figured out, and then they do something completely different than what you expected. This has improved even more in season 2. Each individual character has their own personality, and everything they do affects others in some way.
The makeup and special effects in the series are beyond amazing. The zombies look very real and are all unique. Some have cuts on their rotting flesh, and the more unique ones have missing body parts and their guts might even be hanging out of their stomach.
If you have a weak stomach, this series is not for you.
The first season of The Walking Dead was excellent and what has been seen of Season 2 has exceeded my expectations. From here forward it seems like it could only become better. This series will have you on the edge of your seat and planning out what you would do if the zombie apocalypse actually happened. At the end of each episode you will be left wanting more.
