On Sept. 13 the metal/core band “We Came As Romans” released their new album “Understand What We’ve Grown To Be.” The new album starts off with the song Miss Understanding, which is an immediate jump into a heavy musical fantasy. This song is a great start to the album because it shows that they can still play heavy music compared to their other album “A Plant To Seed.”
Throughout the album, as it plays through from beginning to end, it goes from heavier songs to less and less heavy. This actually gets annoying because their albums are known very well to do this.
David Stephens, the lead vocalist really delivers. His vocals are never out of place. But keys and backup vocals, Kyle Pavone typically stays in one octave and sings out of place occasionally. Drums are played by Eric Choe and are fantastic. He plays up to the reputation of being an incredible drummer and an amazing performer on stage, that he has gained from the other albums with the occasional drop fill.
The bass played by Andrew Glass isn’t very audible. The lead guitarist is Joshua Moore, who wrote the majority of the lyrics. The lyrics are fantastic and contain a message in every song.
I recommend listening to this album. It’s an amazing album with soundtracks of musical genius, and I would definitely recommend taking notice of the songs; understanding what we’ve grown to be, A war inside, and Miss Understanding.
