Senior night for the tennis team wasn’t just about playing matches, it was about celebrating years of hard work, laughter, and friendships. For seniors Presley Lawson, Noah Lazenby, and Addison Farmer, it was a night filled with memories and emotions as they wrapped up their last season.
“I was experiencing a hint of sadness, because it’s kind of weird leaving a team behind that you’ve been with for four years,” Lawson said. “But I was also definitely feeling excited, because the team is going to live on without you, so it’s a good feeling.”
Lazenby agreed that the night felt special, especially because of the support he got from his family.
“It felt great, because my family doesn’t come to my matches, so it was nice to have them there because they stayed and watched the match afterward,” Lazanby said.
Farmer said what stood out most to her wasn’t just the ceremony, but the relationships she’s built with her teammates, especially her doubles partner.
“Even if I’m doing really bad, she always tells me I’m doing good,” Farmer said. “She is always really motivated, and she pushes me to keep going.”
All three seniors said tennis has taught them lessons they’ll take off the court. Lawson learned to keep moving no matter what.
“Even if I lose a point, don’t worry about that point. The next one’s all that matters,” she said.
Lazenby said that the sport taught him how to show respect, even in tough moments.
“Theres a bunch of people that are not respectful when they lose a point, and it’s taught a lot of the team how to be respectful, he said, “so that you’re not one of those people that people hate to play with.”
Farmer added that tennis helped her to see the importance of kindness.
“It really opened my eyes to just treat everyone kind and just to talk to everybody,” she said.
As their high school tennis careers come to a close the seniors agreed they’ll miss the team most of all, the matches, the bus rides, and all the time spent together.
“Im gonna miss playing tennis with my partner,” Lawson said, “and the rest of the people on the team.”
