September 19th, 2014 at approximately 7:00 p.m. Wildcat Stadium will be officially open. As the seniors take the field for their last first game the scenery as they bust through the run through will be a whole new experience. Wearing a Wildcat uniform for one more season is definitely going to be special. After playing at Jarrell Williams Bulldog stadium for the past nine years, this season the Cats finally have a place to call home.
“It’s going to be nice to sit in our office and walk out the indoor and represent Har-Ber on our own field,” said Head Football Coach Chris Wood.
For seniors, this stadium is playing a huge role in making there last year at Har-Ber the best one yet. After a heartbreaking loss, 52-42, to the Conway Wampus Cats in the state semi-finals, the 2015 Wildcat football team has a chance to redeem themselves at their first home game in Wildcat Stadium. Senior football player Grant Lancelot is more than ready for Conway to come to our turf.
“I think the Conway game will be most exciting after last years season ended with them.” said Lancelot.
The traditions that will be passed on year after year start with this class of seniors. Many seniors commented on new traditions they want to establish as they make the stadium their home. “I hope we can start the tradition to some how honor all the classes that played before us at each home game,” said Lancelot.
Also, senior Zach Ownbey commented on a new tradition he would like to begin, “I want to start the tradition of painting a slogan on our wall in the locker room to hit as we leave and are about to take the field, just like they do in Friday Night Lights. “
“I want to beat Springdale High in our new stadium this season and never lose to them at home,” said senior Hunter Hanby.
This 2014 Wildcat football stadium is for sure going to be the beginning of many traditions for present and future football players to come in later years, but this season is a season of creating lifelong memories for the Senior Class of 2015.
