The chill of the breeze could be felt throughout the field at Springdale Bulldog Stadium, as middle defense, Haley Reynebeau stares intently at her rival. She is a predator eyeing her prey.
Reynebeau begins to replay her moves over and over and shuts out the roaring of the crowd. She makes her next move in hopes for a victory April 15th against the Lady Northside Grizzlies.
The 5-2 win marks a spot further in the conference.
“I hope we have turned the corner to more wins in the rest of the season,” said center midfielder Sara Lachance.
Although the defeat of the Lady Grizzlies left the team estatic, many were greatly dissapointed when defensive player Meagan Riggins was flagged with a red card, after attempting a slide tackle on the field.
Players questioned the effects of the penalty in the next game against the Lady Fayetteville Bulldogs.
“Meagan always starts off all of games, and she really contributes a lot for the team. Not having her to start off this next game really has me worried, because we’ve only beat the Lady Bulldogs once,” said Emma Gartner.
Though the flagging of Riggins brought down the spirits of the team, the winning shot made by forward Ana Lopez left the team with renewed spirits.
“I remember the intense feeling I felt in my chest the moment Ana was going up to attempt the free kick. It was such a beautiful shot,” said Reynebeau.
